Overview

Young Investors Society is an international financial-literacy nonprofit that brings free investing education to high school students worldwide. In its ninth year, the year I served as Global Student President, its programs reached schools across 80 countries, with a focus on opening access for students in underserved communities.

My trajectory

  • 2018 (8th grade): founded my own YIS chapter at Diamond Bar HS.
  • HS: West Coast Regional Director, overseeing chapters across the western US.
  • 2023 to 2024 (senior year): Global Student President.
  • 2024 to present: Alumni President, building long-term engagement.

What I built as Global President

  • Budget allocation system modeled on the US Congress. Resolved a recurring regional dispute (VP Asia wanted more for breadth of countries; West Coast wanted more for school count; East Coast objected that West Coast's triple budget was disproportionate). Each region gets a base amount (Senate-style equal representation) plus proportional adjustments for chapter count and historical spending. Regions all signed off, and event execution improved.
  • Alumni Network from scratch. LinkedIn group, volunteer pilot, 20 returning alumni supporting competitions in year one.
  • First Bloomberg sponsorship in YIS history, plus continuing partnerships with Goldman Sachs, Fidelity, BlackRock, Bank of America, JP Morgan.
  • Inaugural Global Youth Investment Summit in NYC: 85 industry professionals, 150 finalists. MC'd events, keynote at Invest in the Future Gala that helped raise ~$200K.
  • Access Initiative expansion 29% YoY, reaching 21% of students in underserved schools.
